Dear Frustrated has contacted me about her latest attempts to keep her mascara on her lashes and off her cheeks and lids. She says that she has been using make-up primer all over her face and her eye lids and that seems to be doing the trick. That is a great tip and a great alternative to lash dipping and probably less costly. Thank you Frustrated for your follow-up and I am glad you found something that has finally worked for you.~LadyBowTie
It doesn’t matter what I do, my mascara always runs. I think my eyelids are too sweaty. I’ve tried every brand of mascara you can think of and it still runs. I stopped using eye cream, I don’t coat my bottom lashes and I even powder my lids and it still doesn’t stay on. ~So Frustrated
Dear Frustrated,
I can understand your frustration, I’m so careful about my make-up I would be going crazy too. I reviewed all the tricks you have tried and to be completely honest, you have tried every technique that I would have suggested. The only thing I could think of was either lash dipping or lash tinting. Since I am no expert on those, I figured it was time to get out the big guns and ask the professionals. I recruited the help of Cheri, the owner of The Lash Boutique here in Manhattan and this is what she said:
Well, there is no contest between dipping and tinting. Tinting is actually illegal to do in New York. A ton of people do it, of course. The product is very potent and burns during the application. It also doesn’t really give the affect most people are looking for. Now dipping does. The saying is “is the perfect coat of mascara” ($250). It’s
non-toxic and last for up to 6 weeks, while tinting seems to last only 2-3. Check out lashdip.com. Now for you reader and her concerns: Tell her that she does not need to stop using eye creams. Eyelash extension or dipping is the treatment for her…most definite! Everyone has sweaty eyelids at one point. She isn’t the first client that comes to me with the same problems with mascara. Depending on the look she wants, she can achieve this with either dipping or extensions. Both when done correctly will not damage the lashes. Any more questions? If you want to discuss anything by phone, let me know.
Thanks,
Cheri
Thank you Cheri for taking time away from your business in Paris to answer our questions. If you have a question for LadyBowTie, email cori@ladybowtie.com. If I don’t know the answer I will find out for you.
I am wondering if your ready has ever tried Clinique’s Lash Power Mascara, long wearing formula (pewter colored tube)? Its truly magical! I’ve worn it in the sweatiest of conditions; running, coaching, childbirth, the beach.. & swimming too. It managed to stay put (SERIOUSLY!) & yet, comes off easily with warm water. I know she’s tried ‘em all but this one might be worth her time.
