The Evolution of the Beauty Parlor

Rush6The beauty parlor was once a place were a gal could get a good wash-n-set and catch up on the latest town gossip.  Now a days, the beauty parlor is a haven for just about everything.  The beauty parlor or salon, if you will, sure has changed over the last 10 years.  Not only can you get your hair, skin and nails tended too but, you can get massages, body piercings, have a cocktail, workout with your personal trainer, consult with a psychic and go shopping for the latest apparel and accessories.   The salon is now an amusement park for women that can be rented out after business hours for a “girls night” filled Rush1with champagne, botox and manicures.

The salon has turned the business of beauty into a lifestyle business catering to a woman’s every wish.  Its quite amazing how much it has changed and adapted with the times.   Salon’s have also fully embraced technology and wouldn’t be caught dead without a loyal fan base on Facebook and Twitter. You can make appointments via text and some salon’s have mobile apps you can down load to your cell phone to order beauty treatments ahead of time.  Salon’s even have blogs now and dish the latest on hairstyles, fiercest cuts and make-up applications.  Some salon’s  have their very own e-retail store where you can order your favorite shampoos and body scrubs online and have them shipped to your home. Its awesome!

One such salon Rush in London really does the business right. They have turned the business of hair into Rush5a living and breathing art form.  Opening in 1994 they now have 50 salon and spas located in London and neighboring cities.  Although they don’t seem to have a psychic on full time rotation, they do offer the full line-up of expert hair and skin services in addition to massage and many other specialty spa treatments.

Rush also opened its very own hair & beauty Advanced Academy where they train their very own award winning stylist, of which they’ve been awarded 12 times including the most recent 2012/2013 London Hair Dresser of the Year.

Based upon their website alone, Rush, has this full-service business model down to a science.  Their site is clean professional, responsive and has stunning images.  Impressive.  Makes me want to skip over the pond just to get my hair done.
