LadyBowTie for President!
Have a Great Day at the Polls
Just in case you were wondering…I’m wearing the Blue Velvet Blazer from SHOPLadyBowTie
Whenever SHOPLadyBowTie makes a sale my heart leaps for joy. It means I’m doing something right. Something I chose for the store caught a complete stranger’s eye and they loved it so much that they had to have it for themselves. They felt that was the perfect thing to express themselves, to make themselves feel beautiful or special or just brighten their self confidence for that moment. For me, that means everything; I’m doing something right for them.
I know, I know..its only trendy clothes and shoes and handbags. Those things, material things, mean nothing in comparison to the basic needs so many families and small business owners need after the devastation of hurricane Sandy. I had a really nice phone conversation with a lovely new customer and entrepreneur who is living in New Mexico but was for many years a teacher in the Philadelphia area. We talked for a very long time about what was happening with the hurricane. There is nothing like a natural disaster to give you a deeper perspective on your own life. It makes me feel grateful that my family and friends have been spared and an even greater appreciation for all of my customers. Especially for the sales that were made over this past week (Thank you!) all the while this hurricane was causing so much havoc up and down the east coast.
Each sale is so deeply personal to me. I’m sure all the ”professionals” will tell me not to take it so personally but I do. Every dollar I invest into this business becomes a dollar spent by another hard working person, and to me, you can not get anymore personal than that. To anyone who shops from my store , I want you to know that it means the world to me and to my family. Every dollar goes right back into the business helping to nurture it and grow it into the best possible experience for the next customer. Each dollar also goes towards carving a future for my children with the hopes that Mommy’s business will set a good example of hard work, dedication and perseverance. All values I cherish and that I want to deeply instill into their character. And one day, if they are interested, I want pass it on to them.
Thank you everyone. Be safe and my prayers tonight are for your families and your businesses to make a quick recovery from the storm and to remind you to hold on tight to your own bright future. ~LadyBowTie
Welcome to the incredible world of personal style fashion blogs. Some of the most inventive wardrobes come from the ladies and gentleman who write, wear and create this type of niche style blog. A few weeks ago during NYC FW SS2013 I met and photographed style blogger Julia Lang of Geeks nd Fashion. Probably one of my favorite pics because Julia shared with me her DIY denim were she sewed in clear strips of plastic into her white jeans. Reminds me very much of my own clear vinyl phase, clear belt, clear raincoat, clear heels, clear backpack (you get the idea)… Oh the memories and so glad to see its return.
After checking out her blog more thoroughly I have to admit I’m a fan! Great personal style, inventive wardrobe and I love most of all that most of the pieces she wears, as quoted from her blog, are from stores that are realistic in price and accessibility for “every girl”. I also appreciate her frankness of opinions on fashion events she attends and clothing lines she reviews. Good job lady I look forward to following your work! After working as a dresser for Naeem Khan, I went to work as a style blogger making my way around the tents at NYC Fashion Week taking Style Espionage pics of many of the patrons. I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing young designer Yasya Minochkina. Here is the picture of her that I took […]
A few weeks ago on a trip with my Mom and my kid to the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market ,a favorite of mine which happily is now open weekends year round (instead of just during the summer). I met a leather bag designer who was selling her wares at the market as well as online. I’m […]
You just never know where your next undiscovered talent will come from. I have some great young designers to share with you and their club-kid line of clothing 1627RAVE (www.1627rave.com) which was actually brought to me by my husband. He met one of the designers at school and shared her site with me. Here is a little bit about […]
