Batting Your Lashes

2011 is the year of The Lash.  What’s the deal with eyelash extensions?  Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic eyelashes glued to your natural lashes.  They are designed to give that full and flirty lash effect that so many women want these days.

A reader and friend of LadyBowTie gave us the skinny on getting fat lashes through lash extensions; how it works, where she goes and how much it cost, etc.  See the full interview below and check out her before and after pictures.

Before:

LadyBowTie: Where do you get them done?
LashLady: I go to a place called The Lash Boutique on 5th Ave (New York City).
LBT: How often do you go?
LL: Its been about 6 weeks for this set.  It is not a full set but a fill.
LBT:  Is that a typical amount of time to wait before getting a fill?
LL:  No, you should probably go every 4 weeks but, I stretch it out to 6.
LBT:  How much does it cost?
LL:  It is not cheap.  This was $120.
LBT:  Wow! That is a lot.  How do you make them stretch for 6 weeks?
LL:  I am very gentle with them.  I do not touch them or rub them.
LBT:  How do you wash your face?
LL:  I wash my face everywhere but my eyes.  Then I gently touch up my eyes with a special make-up remover.
LBT:  Oh there is a special make-up remover?
LL: Yes, it won’t affect the glue they use.
LBT:  I see.  Clearly you use eyeliner but do you use mascara too?
LL:  You can, people do, but I don’t.  You don’t need it.  Oh and you have to use special mascara too.  No oil based make-up on your lashes or that may make the lashes fall out quicker.
LBT: Interesting.  How about swimming, the pool?
LL:  I’m not a big swimmer but yes they are supposed to hold up in the pool.
LBT:  How long did this take?
LL:  About and 1 hour 20 minutes.
LBT:  That’s typical?
LL:  Yes for a fill, but for a full set I guess it might take a little longer.

After:

Pretty dramatic results, and very natural looking without being too drag queeny (not that there is anything wrong with that look if thats what you are going for).  Would you get lash extensions?

Thank you LashLady for sharing your lash experience with us.~LadyBowTie

I recommended it on digg. The sole thing that it’s missing is
a bit of color. However thanks for this review.
