Coming up shortly I have a friend’s wedding to attend. Whenever I am invited to a wedding I can not help myself but think about the expense of the whole production. The venue, limo, bridesmaids dresses, groom and groomsmen’s tuxedos, hotel, shuttle service, cocktail hour, band, wedding planner, bridal party gifts, rings, thank you favors, hair, nails, honeymoon…it really makes your head spin once you sit down and add it all up.
Now most logical and financially reasonable persons could take each and every one of these pieces and argue the true value of their importance to this special day. All except one. The wedding dress. Rightfully so, the bride holds all veto cards when it comes to the budget for her wedding dress. The wedding dress is after all considered the most important ceremonial part of the bride’s big day. But does it really have to blow the budget out of the water?
I’ve come across a bridal and special occasion dress website dressfirst.comthat custom makes wedding dresses to your exact size specifications at really reasonable prices. Wedding dresses average $200-300. WIN!
I personally have never ordered from this site but was unbelievably impressed with their selection. Thousands of styles of wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, prom dresses and evening gowns. And for most styles you get to choose from a giant selection of at least 20 different fabric colors. But what I loved the most was the sizes. The sizes ranged from 2 to 26 or you can custom size your dress (which is what I’d recommend). You plug in your measurements and they cut and sew it to your personal specifications. How cool is that?
I also wanted to share that the very first thing I did when I found this site was to immediately go to the sale section. Let me just tell you, the next formal event I’m slated to attend I will definitely stop by here first. Take a look at the orange charmuese number I found (below) for around $100. Nice right?!
dressfirst.com does have a reasonably fast turn around for custom sewn dresses; 9-11 days for prom and bridesmaids dresses and 11-13 for wedding dresses. I’m not certain what their shipping rates are but the day I looked at the site they were holding a free shipping promotion which is always a bonus if you can catch it.
The return policy is a little bit quick at 7 days to start the return approval process from the company but not entirely unexpected.
Now, ordering your wedding dress online is not everyone’s cup of tea I know… I went to a bridal store, tried on a million dresses and bought from a traditional retailer myself. In hindsight, I could have easily ordered my dress online from DressFirst.com and could have been just as happy. I actually saw a few dresses on site that looked very similar to my very own wedding dress.
Your wedding dress budget is a very personal choice but if you are open minded to a less costly alternative here is an option. Happy wedding planning everyone!
